Who We Are
"Providing Women Shoulders to Lean On"
The One Girlfriend Who Started It All
Hi, I’m Constance Nicole, known to my friends as Connie. I am first and foremost a Child of God. I don’t have all the degrees and certifications that the world says qualifies me. I am not a scholar or an expert in any one thing. After college, I moved to Georgia and began to build a life. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and over 29 years of experience in HR.
My passion comes from ministering, as I've ministered to others throughout my life; under bridges, at my kitchen table, or in the workplace. I am an ordained pastor, a missionary, a compliance expert, Mediator, Troubleshooter, Problem solver, Communicator, Investigator, Confidante, a Mentor, a Hand holder; a Coach, a Speaker, a Writer, and a professional friend.
"Soothed By The Presence Of God..."
I have gotten used to saying that I got the idea for My Girlfriendz Place a couple of years ago when I was suffering from loss...lost my mother and my grandmother...grieving my separation from my job and my church and trying to care for my aunt. I wished during a moment of overwhelm for the comfort I knew I could get from my best friend (in New Jersey).
I wondered if I could create that kind of environment/atmosphere here in Georgia where women, all women, could come in and be refreshed, renewed and restored...soothed by the presence of God as demonstrated through the hug, the heart and the ear of a good Girlfriend. I used to think that this was the genesis but now I know that the idea was born many years ago in the heart of this little girl.
So serious, sad, and quiet... my current friends laugh when I say I'm a quiet person, it was this little girl who actually birthed the idea. It was this little girl who stayed with strangers on the weekends, who knows what it feels like to be overlooked and unwelcome. It was this little girl who was typically off somewhere by herself reading a book or writing her thoughts out because there was no one to share with.
It was this girl with the tender and giving heart who always reached out for those who appear to be on the outside; who thought it important to include everyone in the conversation, in the gift giving or in the circle. It was this girl who always had a heart to give even when she didn't have it to give. It was this girl who continues to give even though she's learned that you don't always get what you give.
My Girlfriendz Place came from this little girl's heart. It is the purity and innocence of a little girl's heart that sustains this grown woman's vision and epitomizes one of My Girlfriendz Place foundational scriptures, Hebrews 13:2 - "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels."
"Come in & be Refreshed, Renewed & Restored.
My Girlfriendz Place
Based on biblical principles, Girlfriendz Place represent...
Wealthy Woman of God (Acts 16:14-15) Welcome One Another (Heb. 13:2) Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.
Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God.
The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. 15 And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying,
“If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us. Strengthen One Another (Eccl. 4:9-12).
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls & has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Welcome One Another (Heb. 13:2) Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.
Speak Truth to One Another
(Prov. 27:9, 27:17)
The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense. As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Celebrate and Comfort Each Other (Rom. 12:15) Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Define One Another (Psalm 139:14) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Pray For and With One Another (Mat. 18:19-20).
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. And Love One Another… (John 13:34) A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. ABOVE ALL- Girlfriendz encourage and build each other up just as we are already doing… (1Thess. 5:11).
